Howard graduated from University College London with an Honours Degree in Applied Physics and moved immediately to the field of computing.

Starting his career as a Computer Centre Assistant Manager, he began teaching computing subjects in further education, going on finally to become a senior lecturer in scientific computing in higher education, teaching at First Degree and Masters Degree levels. His specialism was the application of personal computers to laboratory situations, a discipline then in its infancy.

In 1990, with the benefit of this wealth of experience, he left full time education to become a freelance consultant, offering personal computer solutions to a diverse range of clients.

He has been involved in both production and delivery of computer based training simulations since 1992 and has worked closely with Leeds and Jasper to fulfil these.
